More donations have come in for the small engine/automotive class. Dust and Son Auto Supplies donated an engine hoist to the program. This year they are celebrating 90 years in business. They want to be part of Automotive Technology being taught in our schools to ensure the future of the Automotive Aftermarket. Thank you for your continued support of Dieterich Schools. Steve Shull of Shull Storage, also donated $100 to our program. He was the former automotive teacher at Newton. Becky Wilson of B & G Antique Tractor Parts donated $150. Roy Schmidt Honda made donation of $100. They also donated jack stands and a shop vac. Thanks again to all the sponsors of the class. We have an amazing community, please support your local businesses. If you would like to make a monetary donation or donate tools, please contact Mr. Repking at Dieterich Jr-Sr High School."

Congratulations to Dieterich HS graduate Dalton Flach for being recognized for his outstanding work. 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Hamilton's Own Soldier of the Week is SGT Dalton Flach (13B). During the battery’s recent certification, SGT Flach was chosen above his peers to become the chief of section for Bravo 11 due to his technical and tactical expertise of the M109A7 howitzer. SGT Flach continuously and tirelessly studied the necessary manuals to ensure that he would be able to certify when the testing date arrived, and he did so with new section members whom he had previously not worked with. He quickly adapted to the new crew, and was able to lead them through the certification process successfully. SGT Flach’s ability to certify enabled Bravo Battery to remain lethal and ready to fight during the battery’s period of transition. His actions embody what it means to be a Big Red One Soldier and a member of Hamilton’s Own. #hamiltonsown #kingofbattle

Attention to Dieterich High School students and parents: There will be a Fall Baseball parent/player meeting on Monday, August 6 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. We will discuss rules, schedules, and expectations for the fall.  Our numbers are looking to be down this year, so I encourage anyone who is interested in playing to show up next Monday. Remember that simply coming to the meeting doesn’t mean you have to play.  If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at jkrumwiede@dieterichschools.org. Thanks, Coach Krumwiede

Wow! What a GREAT Community we have! We have had a great response to our plea for old yearbooks. We have been able to copy the 1940, were given the 1941, and have copied the 45, 46, and 47. We are still looking for 1942, 1943, 1944 and anything from the 1930's. Again, if you have access to these books and don't want to part with them, we would love to have the opportunity to copy them and give them back. DHS is in search of old yearbooks. Did you know that Dieterich High School had a yearbook called "The Goldenrod" in 1919? And from 1921-1929 the yearbooks were called the "Di-Hi-An", we actually had one of those mailed to us. And from 1941-1948 the yearbooks were called "The Black Cat". Most people were not aware that Dieterich had a high school or a yearbook in those years or that we were once called the Black Cats. If you have access to any these yearbooks and wouldn't mind sharing, we'd love to make copies. Please contact the High School office if you have access to any of these books.

We honor our veterans in Third grade by bringing in memorabilia and pictures of family and friends that have served in the military. It was such a special feeling to hear about our American soldiers. We heard stories about soldiers from wartime and peace time. Today we were even able to touch a piece of history from World War 2. One of our students, Jaden Ordner brought in a Nazi flag captured by his Great Grandfather. To see this up close is rare indeed. Thank you to all those who have served in our Military! #respect

Dieterich CU #30 Library announces a partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to its school library patrons. The new service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. Driving-Tests.org is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests. This partnership allows the Dieterich CU #30 Library to harness the power of Driving-Tests.org’s specialized practice exams to turn new drivers into safer drivers. The new program will work as an outreach to several valued groups of patrons, including teens, those with disabilities and senior citizens who need to take a renewal exam, as well as patrons at every other stage of life. Driving-Tests.org is a part of Elegant E-Learning, Inc., an eight-year-old company with a proven track record of revolutionizing online resources for learner drivers. Driving-Tests.org is part of a plan to improve global driver safety by providing free practice tests written by experts to anyone who wants to study, along with online copies of official study guides. To help achieve this goal, the company has also created driving practice sites for the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and India.
