7th Grade studies many different areas. They study Western Art from the Stone Age to Modern Installments. They also do projects for each era they study.
8th Grade art studies many different cultures also. Some of these cultures are of India, Islam, Russian Icon, Celtic Dragons, Southwest North America, Precolumbian Art, China and Japan. For every culture they study, they do a project along with it.
7th Grade English:This course is a basic study of grammar and composition. It includes the study of the eight parts of speech, punctuation, sentence patterns, spelling, writing errors, and usage errors. The main course of study is persuasive, narrative, and expository writing. (Page 107 in the handbook).
8th Grade English: This course expands upon the seventh grade course. Punctuation, sentence patterns, and usage problems are addressed through practice exercises and in the writing assignments. Persuasive, expository, and narrative writing is a main focus in this class. (Page 108 in the handbook).
7th Grade Math- The purpose of this class is to further develope students' skills in the basic computational areas of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers. We review percentages, graphing, and the basic ideas of the metric system, geometric concepts, finding perimeters, areas, and volumes of geometric figures. We introduce the basic ideas of algebra, including solving of linear equations by graphing. (Page 207 in the handbook).
8th Grade Math - This is a beginning Algebra course which focuses on concrete concepts and mathematical operations. It is intended to prepare students for continuing in Algebra I. There is an emphasis on learning mathematical manipulation of equations and in problem solving. Students who have had some difficulty in math in the past should take Introductory Algebra before enrolling in Algebra I.

Junior High PE
In P.E. we do all sorts of activites. We play four-way volleyball, dodgeball, badmitton, pickel ball and we even do one week of skating.On Wednesdays we run the mile so we can get kids to reach goals and try to teach them that exercising is very healthy for them.
There are four reading classes in junior high. Mrs. Bloemer and Mr. Nohren split up the classes into 7A, 7B, 8A, and 8B to help the students get the most out of the class. First and second quarters, the reading classes are reading from the text book. Third and fourth quarters, the reading classes are reading from novels.
7th Grade Reading (A and B) - This course is a basic study of the elements of reading and the different types of genres. The purpose of this class is to improve the reading, comprehension, and vocabulary skills of all seventh grade students. Accelerated Reader is used to further advance each individual reading level. (Page 117 in the handbook).
8th Grade Reading (A and B) - This course is to further the reading comprehension and skills of the eighth grade student. It gives the students a better understanding of the elements of literature. Accelerated Reader is used to further advance each individual reading level. (Page 118 in the handbook).

8th grade will cover chapters in the book and do projects such as the egg toss, egg cart, and paper airplane toss.
7th Grade-This course will allow the students to explore and understand their world. Students will explore environments, culture, history, government, geography and current events of the diffrent parts of the world. The students will learn how to work efficiently in groups similar to that of a country in a global community. Films, the World Wide Web, and other media will be used as supplemental sources in this Social Studies curriculum.
8th Grade- This course focuses on the Colonial Period, American Revolution, and the Adoption of the Constitution, causes of the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War l and World War ll, and Post War problems both foreign and domestic, and the diversity of culture with in the United States. Students will learn how to analyze, compare and contrast primary and secondary sources, as well as historical events. Students are also required to pass both the Illinois and U.S. Constitution test.
