Dieterich Schools will be in session on Monday, August 21st. On that day there will be a solar eclipse taking place shortly after 1pm. The students at Dieterich School will be viewing the eclipse via the NASA live stream in their classrooms. There will also be additional classroom activities leading up to and after the eclipse.

Since we are not directly viewing the eclipse, please do not send viewing devices with your child. The risk of permanently damaging one’s vision is one that the school district cannot assume. In short, we cannot ensure that all of our students would remain safe by using the glasses properly, therefore avoiding damage to their vision. Student safety is always one of our highest priorities.

If you, as a parent or guardian, wish for your child to view the eclipse directly, you would need to sign your student out of school for the viewing. If you do wish to sign your child out of school, please contact the office ahead of time and we will assist you.

Best wishes for a wonderful school year!

Mr. Cary Jackson, Superintendent
