Through the recent Reach for the Stars reading program and the efforts of our students, who read over 88,000 minutes in a 3 week period, Mrs. Richars was able to purchase over $2,500 of new books for our library! Thank you to our students, their families, and Ginger Robbins with Usborne books!

A group of Effingham area business leaders recently presented Hailey Budde of Dieterich High School the April award for Mathematic/Scientific scholastic achievement known as Hall of FAME, which represents Fantastic Area Mathematicians (Scientists) Extraordinaire. Hailey was selected by her school staff based on preset standards for her high academic achievement in science & math. Presenting the award are Art Green for Full Circle Realty, Pat Gebben from Merz Heating & Air Conditioning, Hailey, and Hank Habing from Effingham Urology Associates. Sponsors not able to attend were Joe’s Pizza, H & M Concrete Construction, and Milano & Grunloh Engineering. Hailey plans to continue her education at LLC studying toward becoming a nurse, possibly specializing in radiology. She hopes to remain close to the Effingham County community to serve. The leadership of these businesses knows that excellence in academics play an important part in the growth and vitality of our area and wish to encourage the scholastic endeavors of our leaders of tomorrow. Also, thanks to the educators at DHS & her parents for the direction given to Hailey and all students.
