First graders spent the (short) week learning about our Presidents. Mrs. Field's class made hats like George Washington, built log cabins like Abraham Lincoln's, and even had a visit from Honest Abe himself (student teacher Miss Koester!)

We have finally received our shipment of Chromebooks that will allow us to implement our 1:1 Technology Program!
Each student in K-12 will have access to a learning device. Grades K-1 will have Chrome Tablets and grades 2-12 will have Chromebooks.
Grades K-6 will house their devices in their classroom for use throughout the day. Students in grades 7-12 will be assigned a Chromebook to use at school and at home, much like a textbook.
Chromebooks use the G Suite for Education platform. G Suite contains multiple educational tools that help to increase opportunities for critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity, all while supporting our educational goals and objectives. Each student has been issued their own unique Dieterich Schools username. These usernames are unique to the student and no one else will have your student’s username. It is very important to utilize the district issued username to access the Chromebooks and Google platform. Each student, and device, is protected on and off campus by our secure school network. Our security features filter content, monitor usage and provide on-line security for our students.
We are proud to enhance the quality of education we offer at Dieterich Schools by blending technology with traditional teaching methods. Students will still be using textbooks. Chromebooks are just one of the many tools we use to provide a high quality education.
Students and parents have been provided a 1:1 Program Handbook that includes appropriate usage, care for the device, responsibility of student and parent, repair/loss/damage of device, and a waiver/indemnification form.
Again, we are very excited to offer these educational tools to our students.

Our fourth grade students recently had to create a structure out of marshmallows, gummy bears, and toothpicks that could withstand an "earthquake". What a great STEM activity from Ms. Niemerg, our fourth grade student teacher!
Mrs. Zerrusen and the high school art students recently created
"monster dolls" for our Kindergarten students!
Mr. McManaway and the 6th grades recently completed a STEM bucket challenge! Great job!
