News Release Dieterich High School Boys’ Varsity Basketball Season Ticket Information Dieterich High School will be selling Reserve Seat Season Tickets for High School Boys’ Basketball games to past season ticket holders on November 1-9. Season tickets remaining will be on sale to the general public beginning November 13. Individual and family season passes are also available which allow admission to all regular season Junior/Senior High School athletic events during the 2023-2024 school year. The prices of the tickets and passes are as follows: Season Basketball Tickets $32.00 Individual Season Pass $38.00 Family Season Pass $90.00 Tickets and passes may be purchased in the High School Office from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. *Regular game admission prices are: $4.00 Adults $2.00 Students (Grades K-12) & Senior Citizens age 65+

2023 Dieterich MEET THE MOVIN’ MAROONS Dieterich High School will have their annual “Meet the Movin’ Maroons” night on Thursday, November 9th, 2023. The senior class will host a pork burger cookout from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the HS Lobby. Pre-game music will be played starting at 5:45 p.m. The National Anthem will be played at 6:00 p.m. followed by the school song being performed by the cheerleaders and dance teams. The High School Cheer, Dance, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball Teams will be introduced and will perform/scrimmage. This will be a night for everyone to enjoy so please come out to support our Dieterich Movin’ Maroons. Admission to the Meet the Movin’ Maroons night is a donation to our “Bringing Christmas Cheer” program to help provide gifts for children in our district. Below is a list of requested items. We will also have our “Angel Tree” up if you would like to get items for a specific child in our program. 1st ANNUAL “BRINGING CHRISTMAS CHEER” DRIVE We are teaming up with our Helping Hands Program to help provide a Merry Christmas to the children and families in this program. Items below will help us provide a Christmas meal, fillers, and supplies that we provide every family. You may also sign up to purchase for a child on our “Angel Tree” to provide specific items requested by that child. We are sad to hear of the passing of former Dieterich School bookkeeper Janice Mellendorf. Mrs. Mellendorf was a member of the Dieterich Unit #30 staff for 35 years. Mellendorf, 65, of Louisville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Louisville with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Louisville, the Carle Cancer Institute, or the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN. Online condolences maybe shared by clicking here. Janice was born on January 12, 1958 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Howard and Alice (Wohltman) Bohnhoff. She married Kent Mellendorf on October 14, 1978 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dieterich, IL and they were together over 45 years. Janice worked as a bookkeeper for Dieterich Schools for 35 years. She loved to cook and bake, especially when it was for others. Janice had a heart and spirit of giving. She was very active in her church and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Janice is survived by her husband Kent Mellendorf of Louisville; children, Michelle (Marc) Goeke, Tracy (Tyler) Heuerman, and Mark (Kourtney) Mellendorf; grandchildren, Alexander Goeke, Brady Heuerman, Levi Heuerman, Gentry Heuerman, and Kaylee Mellendorf; siblings, Marcy (Alan) Kingery, Brian (Lisa) Bohnhoff, Kimberly Walk, Lucinda (Ray, Jr.) Hinterscher, and Dirk (Laurie) Bohnhoff; and mother-in-law, Irma Mellendorf. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merlin Bohnhoff and Sydney Bohnhoff; father-in-law, Dale Mellendorf; and brothers-in-law, David Walk and Doug Wendling.

Congratulations to the JH Boys Cross Country team for placing 3rd today at Sectionals. They have qualified to compete at the State Meet next Saturday in Normal! Ben Schottman won the Sectional race with a time of 11:59! Lydia Fuesting also qualified for State as an individual!
