Dear Dieterich CUSD #30 Parents and Guardians, Friday afternoon in the Seventh Circuit Court in Sangamon County, in a lawsuit in which Dieterich CUSD #30 was named as a defendant, a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) was entered by presiding Judge Grischow. The TRO prohibits (i) excluding students or staff who object to wearing a mask without due process, (ii) excluding those individuals who are close contacts to a positive COVID-19 individual, without due process and (iii) from excluding staff for not COVID testing on a weekly basis. It is the intent of Dieterich CUSD #30 to follow the TRO beginning Monday, February 7th. Dieterich CUSD #30 continues to recommend the use of COVID-19 prevention mitigations, but will not exclude students or staff who choose not to implement the mitigations cited in the TRO. Please understand that this is a very fluid situation that could change at a moment’s notice. The state is expected to appeal this decision. Based on the timeline, we could expect an appellate court decision by February 17th. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate through these unprecedented times. Sincerely, Dieterich CUSD #30 Board of Education and Administration
