After traveling through the “world” as a water molecule on Thursday, 5th grade got to create their own greenhouses today! Their greenhouses are even labeled with the water cycle! What a great activity!

With the sports seasons in full swing, Dieterich Schools would like to remind everyone of the importance of continuing to follow the IDPH Guidelines, doing so will allow us to continue to hold athletic contests.
IDPH Guidelines
• Spectators must remain masked at all times
• Spectators must sit in the areas that have been marked with tape, no one is allowed to sit in the first two rows of the bleachers
• All family members must sit together and social distance from other families
• Spectators must exit the gym immediately following the conclusion of the game
Thanks in advance for your continued cooperation! Go Movin’ Maroons and Roadrunners!

Schools are no longer required to screen students at the door for COVID symptoms.
Please make sure you, as a parent/guardian, continue to complete the pre-certification on TeacherEase or the paper form.

Dieterich Unit #30 will not be in session on Monday, March 1st due to the observance of Casimir Pulaski Day.
School will resume on Tuesday, March 2nd.
Enjoy the three-day weekend!

Tonight's Jr. High Boys Basketball games v. Robinson (6:00) will be played in the HS gym. Spectators need to enter through the HS lobby doors.

First graders spent the (short) week learning about our Presidents. Mrs. Field's class made hats like George Washington, built log cabins like Abraham Lincoln's, and even had a visit from Honest Abe himself (student teacher Miss Koester!)

Great news!
We have finally received our shipment of Chromebooks that will allow us to implement our 1:1 Technology Program!
Each student in K-12 will have access to a learning device. Grades K-1 will have Chrome Tablets and grades 2-12 will have Chromebooks.
Grades K-6 will house their devices in their classroom for use throughout the day. Students in grades 7-12 will be assigned a Chromebook to use at school and at home, much like a textbook.
Chromebooks use the G Suite for Education platform. G Suite contains multiple educational tools that help to increase opportunities for critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity, all while supporting our educational goals and objectives. These tools are free, reliable and secure. Millions of students around the world use G Suite for Education. To learn more about G Suite for Education, visit gsuite.google.com.
Each student has been issued their own unique Dieterich Schools username. These usernames are unique to the student and no one else will have your student’s username. It is very important to utilize the district issued username to access the Chromebooks and Google platform. Each student, and device, is protected on and off campus by our secure school network. Our security features filter content, monitor usage and provide on-line security for our students.
We are proud to enhance the quality of education we offer at Dieterich Schools by blending technology with traditional teaching methods. Students will still be using textbooks. Chromebooks are just one of the many tools we use to provide a high quality education.
Students and parents have been provided a 1:1 Program Handbook that includes appropriate usage, care for the device, responsibility of student and parent, repair/loss/damage of device, and a waiver/indemnification form.
Again, we are very excited to offer these educational tools to our students.
As always, please to do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions.
