A group of Effingham area business leaders recently presented Carly Ohnesorge from Dieterich High School the Dec. award for Mathematic/Scientific scholastic achievement known as Hall of FAME, which represents Fantastic Area Mathematicians (Scientists) Extraordinaire.
Carly was selected by her school staff based on preset standards for her high academic achievement in science. Presenting the award are Daryl Smith of Merz Heating and Air Conditioning, Carly, Art Green of Full Circle Realty & Michael Tappendorf of Milano & Grunloh Engineers. Sponsors not able to attend were Joe’s Pizza, H & M Concrete Construction, and Effingham Urology. Carly plans to continue her education & then study toward becoming a veterinarian.
The leadership of these businesses knows that excellence in academics play an important part in the growth and vitality of our area and wish to encourage the scholastic endeavors of our leaders of tomorrow. Also, thanks to the educators at DHS & her parents for the direction given to Carly and all students.

USDA Extends Waivers to June 30, 2021
The Illinois State Board of Education Nutrition Department is excited to share that the U.S. Department of Agriculture just announced waiver extensions that will allow schools to operate Summer Meals programs through the end of School Year 2020-21, offering free meals to students. This changes the expiration from Dec. 31, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

Stang Arts After School Program will be on Wednesday, January 13th. The deadline to register is Monday, January 11th.


1st and 2nd grades sang holiday songs together through Google meet this morning. The students loved getting to peek at what other classes are doing to celebrate!
