Written by Greg Sapp The Effingham Regional Career Academy is hosting an Orientation Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, August 6 at the Lake Land College Kluthe Center. All students who have enrolled for the Fall 2024 semester and their parents, as well as students and parents who are interested in learning more, are invited to attend. Community members who would like to learn more are also welcome to attend. After a brief welcome, students will be able to learn more about the Fall classes that are being offered, the dual credit that is available and become familiar with the Spring 2025 classes that are available for registration. Cross Country Information: Junior High XC: Practice begins Monday, August 5 at 6:30 am. Meet at the park pavilion. High School XC: Meeting for parents and runners on Wednesday, August 7 at 6 pm in Coach Wohltman's class room. Enter on west side of the building (door #5). The Dieterich Elementary Open House is just around the corner! Our open house is Wednesday, August 14, from 4:00-6:00 pm. This is a great time to bring your school supplies, meet your teacher, and have any questions answered that you may have about the upcoming school year. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dan Niemerg, former administrator and school board member at Dieterich Schools. There was no better advocate for kids. Dan devoted his life to the betterment of children. His funeral arrangements are as follows: Daniel R. “Dan” Niemerg, 71 of rural Dieterich, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday at the church from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial donations may be given to St. Francis Religious Education. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.
